The shortest interview ever with: The Liars

BCR: I notice a recent hands-on emphasis on the technical production of your music. Do you find the mechanics of the instruments integral to the message?

L: MORE INTEGRAL TO THE APPROACH FOR THIS ALBUM....MECHANICS UNVEIL NEW QUALITIES TO EMPHASIZE.

BCR: What was the impetus for adding so much video footage to the album release and for you all to direct a video for a song each?

L: A WAY OF GIVING MORE EXAMPLES OF CREATIVITY TO CREATE A BETTER PACKAGE FOR THE RECORD BUYER.

BCR: You saw and played with the Pixies and I wondered what other bands, considering that so many of late 70's and 80s' bands are touring now (half man/half biscuit, breeders etc) who would you want to see back on stage?

L: KEITH LEVENE, = P.I.L

BCR: As you never put lyrics on your CD liner notes... What’s the best misheard-lyric you've heard

L: KARMA CHAMELEON

BCR: You've mentioned that the titles Mt. Heart Attack and Drum are directly related to the feelings you both (Angus and Aaron) have while recording. Can you tell us what those titles mean, how you deal with those emotions and how they infer to the style and way in which you write your music (I realise that's rather a mouthful... Sorry)?

L: WE DEAL WITH THEM BY MAKING THINGS....MUSIC, VIDEOS, ETC. THE TITLES CAME AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THE RECORD, AND SERVE THE SAME FUNCTION AS TITLES FOR CHAPTERS IN BOOKS.

BCR: What was Berlin like in terms of the music scene - did that affect your own music?

L: WE WERE FINANCIALLY ABLE TO IMMERSE OURSELVES COMPLETELY IN OUR OWN MUSIC.

L: Did recording the album in a place with structurally significant and varied areas, built specifically for acoustic range, change the music in any way? Did you find yourself listening to the walls?

L: YES....IT WAS CRUCIAL TO THE ALBUM, AS IT WAS BASED AROUND THE DRUM, AN ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENT.

Whatever next for the Liars?

IT'S A SECRET.
