The addition of a full band again changes the dynamic. Obviously ever so slightly under rehearsed Rob Taylor, Scott O’Neill, Andrew Mullett, Ian Gallagher, Steven Griffiths give the show a rough and ready garage band feel that really adds to the atmosphere as well bringing out the more raucous side of Daniels personality. He pays tribute to the Beatles, one of his favorite bands, and one of the reasons he enjoys playing the UK with a version of You’ve got to hide your love away. A song and sentiment that could almost be one of his own. Given that most of his work seems to deal in emotions that others seem to shy away from or only touch for the briefest instance. Perhaps that really is the appeal of Daniel Johnston, he relates to the inner 14 year old inside us all, that other musicians are too adult to try and touch.
